Yes, Valiant Lady is worth it in 2026, and she is a genuinely different ship than she was six months ago. She came out of her May 2026 dry dock with a new Indian restaurant, ten redesigned public spaces, and more than 20 new Happenings Cast events.
I sailed her for seven nights right after that refresh. Almost every Valiant Lady review you will find online describes the ship before dry dock, so this one covers what actually changed and whether any of it is worth booking for.
I am covering the food, the ship spaces, the entertainment, and the question I get asked most: the price. Short version on that one, Valiant Lady is far more competitive than most sailors assume.
I am also not soft on the parts that did not land. There is one redesigned space I walked into and immediately disliked, and I changed my mind about it by the end of the week.
What Changed on Valiant Lady in the May 2026 Dry Dock
Valiant Lady went into dry dock at the Fincantieri yard in Palermo, Sicily from May 9 to May 25, 2026. It was her first real refresh since she launched in 2021.
She came out with ten redesigned public spaces, a brand new restaurant, more than 20 new Happenings Cast events, and a long list of smaller fixes. Virgin also added retail, including TAG and Pandora.
Here is the honest framing before we go section by section. This was a refresh, not a rebuild. Virgin refined spaces that already existed instead of gutting the ship, and the result is a Valiant Lady that feels sharper rather than unfamiliar.
You feel it the second you walk on. The carpet is new, the spaces are new, and I genuinely stood in my Sea Terrace cabin thinking about how fresh the whole thing smelled. She looks and smells brand new.
I also expected her to come out as a carbon copy of Brilliant Lady. She did not. Virgin clearly watched what worked on Brilliant and then made different calls on Valiant, which tells you they are still paying attention to sailor feedback.
Ariya by Razzle Dazzle Is the Big Change
The headline change is the restaurant. Razzle Dazzle is now Ariya by Razzle Dazzle, an Indian restaurant, and it is exclusive to Valiant Lady.
There are four lady ships, and as each one goes into dry dock she comes out with a new Razzle Dazzle concept. Scarlet Lady got Lucky Lotus, Brilliant Lady got Rojo, and now Valiant Lady has Ariya. Resilient Lady is getting something new soon.
Ariya is the dinner concept. In the morning and midday it still runs as Razzle Dazzle, so you get your traditional breakfast and brunch, plus a couple of the dinner items pulled onto the brunch menu.
The part nobody is talking about is the room itself. The layout is similar to the other Razzle Dazzle restaurants, but there is far more privacy built into it.
I think Virgin is testing two things at once here. On one side there is shared dining, where you sit with sailors you have not met, a bit like Gunbae without the drinking game. On the other side there are more private booths for an actual intimate dinner.
That matters more than it sounds. In the other restaurants I sometimes love the big communal table energy, and other times I am very aware that everyone around me can hear my entire conversation. Ariya finally gives you the choice.
What the Food at Ariya Is Actually Like
I will be honest, I was skeptical. Indian food is not my first choice, and I am not really into curries.
Two things surprised me. There are no curries on the menu at all, and it is not a spicy restaurant. I packed extra Tums for this sailing and did not need them.
The dishes worth ordering: the chicken 65, which is fried chicken and an easy win for anybody nervous about the menu. The paneer dip served with naan, which is one of the best appetizers on the ship.
Everybody talks about the lamb shank biryani as the dish to get, and it is a genuinely huge portion with flavors that come together well. It is not the one I would send you to, though.
My favorite on the whole menu was the shrimp. The closest way I can describe it is Indian shrimp and grits, and I still think about it. It is also not one of the paid Treat Yourself upgrades, which makes it an easy order.
I ate every single dish on that menu. It took me seven nights, and no, I did not love all of them. Having more variety on Virgin Voyages is a genuine win even so.

The Roundabout and Draft House Got the Biggest Upgrade
If you only care about one space change on deck 7, make it this one. The Roundabout is the area I was most excited about and the one I actually used.
Draft House is open now, and it has a full bar. It used to be beers and a few canned cocktails, so this is a real upgrade rather than a cosmetic one.
It works because of what is around it. The screens upstairs show the games, and I was aboard during the World Cup, so the whole space was packed with sailors drinking and eating pizza.
Lick Me Till… Ice Cream picked up new seating, and the Shore Things side got reworked with more private spots to sit.
Here is my real measure of whether a redesign worked. On the other lady ships I have never once hung out in the Roundabout. On Valiant Lady you will now find me over there.
On The Rocks: The Space I Did Not Like Until I Used It
On The Rocks on deck 6 is the one I want to be straight with you about, because my first reaction was not good.
They opened the space up and moved the entertainment into the corner. It is not just bands in there, it is all kinds of events. I walked in, looked at where they had put the stage, and thought that does not work.
Then I actually spent time in there during an event and the logic clicked. Putting the entertainment in the corner means far more people can see and hear it comfortably instead of everyone crowding one sightline.
I still think it reads oddly when the room is empty. In use, it is the better layout, and that is the version that counts.
The Manor Lost Its Back Platform, and That Is a Good Thing
The raised platform at the back of The Manor is gone, and the whole back of the room has been opened up.
I will admit I had a selfish reason to be nervous about this one. I am 5 foot 2, and stepping up onto that back platform was how I used to see over everybody during a show.
It turns out the change is better. That back area used to be space nobody could really use, and now it is open, so more seats in the room have a real view of the stage.
The practical win is that you can enjoy a show or a late night party without having to be right up against the dance floor, the DJ and the speakers. More ways to enjoy the same room is always the right trade.

Over 20 New Happenings Cast Events
Valiant Lady came out of dry dock with more than 20 new Happenings Cast events, which is a lot of new programming for one refresh.
There are 12 Happenings Cast members running them, and the range is wide: food events, fitness and workout events, artist events, and game shows.
Sink or Swim was the surprise for me. I popped in expecting to stay five minutes on a perfect pool day and stayed for the entire thing. You can absolutely watch without being pulled on stage.
Pay Attention is the other one to catch. The characters the Happenings Cast play in it are genuinely hilarious.
Two more worth your time: the new silent workout with the Balancer, which was rad, and Dirty Laundry in The Social Club, which is exactly the kind of secrets-revealing game show the name suggests.
Now the honest part. Virgin Voyages is getting cheekier, cornier and cheesier every year, and when I talk to other sailors that humor is clearly not for everybody. I happen to love it, but you should know what you are booking.
The Smaller Changes: Pool, High Street and the Casino
The pool area got opened up with different seating, which brings it in line with what you already see on Scarlet Lady and Brilliant Lady. They also added handles on the pool.
High Street picked up a few new pop-up shops, so the shopping area is worth a second look even if you sailed Valiant Lady last year.
The casino has additional slot machines and gameplay, matching the other lady ships. Remember that Valiant Lady also has that extra casino space on the other side of deck 6, which not every sailor finds.

Is Valiant Lady Expensive in 2026?
This is the question I get more than any other, so let me give you the real answer instead of a vague one.
First, the context. The lady ships are sailing fuller than I have ever seen them. Valiant Lady holds 2,770 sailors, and Virgin normally keeps about 100 berths back for emergencies, so a full ship is roughly 2,670.
These days I am seeing counts like 2,645 and 2,632 on a regular sailing. That is packed, and my assumption was that Virgin must have raised prices to match the demand.
So I checked. I sailed a competing cruise line, added up every cost side by side, and compared it against Virgin like for like.
Virgin’s price point is not just competitive. Once you total up what the other line charges on top of the fare, Virgin often comes out lower, and most sailors never realize it because Virgin puts more of the cost up front.
Then I looked at Valiant Lady’s own upcoming schedule, because I want to get back on her later this year. I found 12-night sailings at $89 per person per night. That is a genuinely strong number for a ship that just came out of dry dock.
Now the honest caveat, because I am not going to pretend every sailing looks like that. The one I took was not cheap. I picked a very busy, very cool itinerary over the 4th of July, and I paid for that choice.
There were much better priced sailings on the board for that same ship. I could have been a smarter traveler, I just wanted to be on board to see what changed. The price you get on Valiant Lady is mostly about which week you pick.
How Valiant Lady Entertainment Compares to the Other Lady Ships
Start with the thing most sailors do not know: the entertainment and the themed parties are different on every lady ship. They are not the same show rotating around the fleet.
I see the confusion constantly. Someone rebooks the same lady ship, then asks where a particular show went, and the answer is that it was never on this one. Virgin Voyages lists the entertainment by ship on their website, and it is worth checking before you book.
Valiant Lady is one of the two lady ships I would bring my own friends and family on for entertainment. That is the highest compliment I have.
Untitled is the show that made me fall for Virgin in the first place. It is not for everybody, and that is exactly the point. They do things differently and I am grateful for it.
The Misbehave show is fast-paced and hilarious. Around the World with the Diva has been promoted from the smaller Manor version into a full Red Room production, and it feels like who Virgin was when she first launched.
There is also a variety show, which I love having in the mix, and The Magnets. If you are not singing along ear to ear with those guys, I do not know what to tell you. My mom is still in love with one of them.
Nightlife-wise, We Fancy is still my favorite party in the fleet, and by a long shot over Scarlet Night.
Here is my one real criticism, and it is Virgin against Virgin rather than Virgin against other cruise lines. A lot of the newest entertainment came out of sailor feedback, and a lot of that feedback pushed toward a more generic cruise show.
If you love that Virgin is weird and cheeky, say so in your post-cruise feedback. Valiant Lady still feels like original Virgin, and I would like it to stay that way.
Who Valiant Lady Is For in 2026
Valiant Lady is for adults who want a cruise with a personality. She is 18 and over, the humor is cheeky and a little strange, and the whole thing is built for people who were bored by traditional cruising.
She is a strong pick for repeat Virgin sailors specifically, because Ariya and her entertainment lineup exist nowhere else in the fleet. If you have already done Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady is genuinely new territory rather than the same week again.
She is also the fleet’s traveler. Valiant Lady splits her year across the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and transatlantic crossings, so the itinerary list is wider than the ships that stay on one circuit.
Who she is not for: anyone who wants a traditional cruise ship experience, a big daytime activity program, or family friendly entertainment. That is not a flaw, it is the design, and going in expecting otherwise is how people end up disappointed.
One more thing that has quietly gotten better. The crew keeps coming back contract after contract and moving up, and you feel it. The same faces recognizing you is a real part of why the experience keeps improving.
